Foundation
The Equine Trust Foundation was established in 1985 by Dr. Janice Young DVM as an incorporated, non-profit foundation (501c3).
Dr. Young, whose specialty was equine lameness, was tired of seeing good horses that could no longer perform at a certain level, fall through the cracks. Dr. Young's desire was to re-home those horses where they could still have rich, full lives. She decided the way to do this was to accept these horses as donations and then adopt them out to forever homes.
One of the hopes of the Equine Trust Foundation was to support research, through donations, and to educate the public by getting information out on new or as yet, undiagnosed equine health problems.
The Equine Trust Foundation worked diligently with Dr. Young to bring the problem of DSLD to light in the equine community. To continue her desire of education for this issue we have printed Dr Youngs article on our Information & Links page, in the hopes that the information regarding DSLD will be passed through even more of the equine community.
Knowing about something is the only power we have of overcoming it...
Over the years the Equine Trust Foundation has taken on many projects... currently the Equine Trust Foundation is trying to establish a fund to help people that have lost their jobs and or homes deal with their horses.
